MAC Manuals
A collection of guides and manuals issued by Veloce (mostly) related to the MAC 350cc model.
As with other manuals I'm posting, these have been scanned, OCR'd, cleaned up, spell checked etc. Although I've retained the original page references in the text, the guides are organised by sections rather than pages.
MAC Instruction Book
Publication F.469/4R/400, January 1965
Issued as a guide to the complete servicing and repair of spring-framed MAC models. Intended primarily for Agents and Repairers.
MAC Service Guide (1965)

This is the service guide for the spring frame model, although there is much in common with the rigid-frame models.
MAC Owner's Handbook 1955
Publication number F466/2R, August 1955
Rigid Frame MAC Service Manual
F50/7R - Eighth edition published October 1955.

Viper, Venom, MSS
Owner's Handbook
Cleanup of the second edition of the Owner's Handbook issued with every new motorcycle by Velocette. This issue is dated July 1956.
Rather than slavishly follow the page layout, I've set the articles out in major subject areas. However, where cross-references exist in the text - the index being a major example - I've retained the original numbers so that referring to a 'real' manual is straightforward (I hope). I've tried to ensure that references are hyper-linked to the relevant parts of the articles.
Service Guide (Red Book)
This is the Service Manual for the Velocette Viper, Venom, MSS, 'Clubman' and 'Scrambler' Models, F484/9R (1967).
The Service Manuals were originally issued for Agents and Repairers, a separate less detailed Owner's Handbook being supplied with the machine. The content is appropriate to the parts and materials available at the time of manufacture; however, much has changed since and although substantial parts of the manual are still appropriate care should be taken is using it as a guide. For instance, modern tyres will use higher pressures than those quoted in this guide; alternative oils are available that might give improved performance; some tweaking of carburetter settings may be required to allow for current fuels.
The owner should regard this manual as a starting point. Much advice (and debate!) is available, not least from the Owners Club and a very active technical forum, for the practical use of these machines in a modern context.
Scrambler Model Special Instructions
In most respects the methods of adjustment, and maintenance needed to certain parts of the Scrambler do not differ from those employed for the standard model. The standard instruction literature can be taken to apply therefore unless special reference is made, and other instructions given in this section.
F484 MSS Spring Frame Service Manual 1954
The first service manual for the RS (sprung) framed MSS. Later editions included the Venom, Viper and Scrambler models, becoming what is generally referred to as the 'Red Book'
F484-11R Service Manual
F484-11R Service Manual Viper, Venom, MSS, Clubman, Scrambler and Thruxton Supplement published March 1971. The final edition under the Veloce name. AKA 'The Red Book', a name also used for the Pearson publication 'Velocette' by R.W.Burgess, although Burgess only runs to 1956.
KSS, KTS Manuals
KSS, KTS Mk II OHC Instruction Book
Publication F236/4R, January 1950. Supersedes previous edition F236/2R.
Diagrams cleaned up and the odd error corrected.
OHC Models 1925-1931 Instruction Book
This is the Veloce manual F42/3R covering the overhead cam models from 1925 - 1931. In practice it is a mixture of instruction book and parts manual, as several pages at the back of the manual are cutaway diagrams annotated with part numbers, although this only covers the engine, gearbox and rear hub.
As with other references on this site, the text has been OCR'd from a scanned source and the diagrams 'cleaned up' to remove most of the effects of aging, use and simple limitations of the print technology when the manual was originally produced. As an experiment, the manual has been formatted in a PDF document ready for A5 double-sided printing and is available from this site.
