Owner's Handbook
Cleanup of the second edition of the Owner's Handbook issued with every new motorcycle by Velocette. This issue is dated July 1956.
Rather than slavishly follow the page layout, I've set the articles out in major subject areas. However, where cross-references exist in the text - the index being a major example - I've retained the original numbers so that referring to a 'real' manual is straightforward (I hope). I've tried to ensure that references are hyper-linked to the relevant parts of the articles.
Service Guide (Red Book)
This is the Service Manual for the Velocette Viper, Venom, MSS, 'Clubman' and 'Scrambler' Models, F484/9R (1967).
The Service Manuals were originally issued for Agents and Repairers, a separate less detailed Owner's Handbook being supplied with the machine. The content is appropriate to the parts and materials available at the time of manufacture; however, much has changed since and although substantial parts of the manual are still appropriate care should be taken is using it as a guide. For instance, modern tyres will use higher pressures than those quoted in this guide; alternative oils are available that might give improved performance; some tweaking of carburetter settings may be required to allow for current fuels.
The owner should regard this manual as a starting point. Much advice (and debate!) is available, not least from the Owners Club and a very active technical forum, for the practical use of these machines in a modern context.
F484 MSS Spring Frame Service Manual 1954
The first service manual for the RS (sprung) framed MSS. Later editions included the Venom, Viper and Scrambler models, becoming what is generally referred to as the 'Red Book'
F484-11R Service Manual
F484-11R Service Manual Viper, Venom, MSS, Clubman, Scrambler and Thruxton Supplement published March 1971. The final edition under the Veloce name. AKA 'The Red Book', a name also used for the Pearson publication 'Velocette' by R.W.Burgess, although Burgess only runs to 1956.
