  6. Refitting the Oil Pump

To re-fit the pump heat up the crankcase, set the shim in place, and slide the pump into position, locating the pump carefully so that the four screws will fit into these holes in the crankcase, and so that the slot in the oil pump cover through which oil is delivered, is at the top. For the correct location see illustration, page 14.

It is of assistance in locating the shim and pump when fitting if two studs about 2½-ins. long x 3/16 in. diamter, and threaded for about ¼-in. at one end and screwed into two opposite holes in the pump housing in the crankcase, so that the shim and the pump can be slid over them and into place. When the pump and cover are fully home, fit the four fixing screws and tighten them.
